Children & Psychic Energies

Let me start with saying all children are born with abilities to sense things around them because they are pure in their energy. What do I mean by pure in energy? They are here from the source from which all things exist. This energy is a light source which surrounds all living things and in children it burns the brightest. Think on this light around your child as a beacon of light in the darkness. Entities sense this light in their darkness and they many time go to see it find out what the source is, and eventually try to communicate with the child.

Simply because the entity is near a child however, does not mean that the child will acknowledge it existence. I strongly believe that the child has to see it and speak to it before the entity can form any sort of attachment positive or negative. Teaching your child at an early age to not speak to stranger’s, and to let the parental know that someone is around will help you know when someone is around that is also unseen to you.

If your child comes to you and says that they see, hear, feel someone around them that makes them feel uneasy, or that they really like do not automatically think that it’s their imagination stirring. Take mental notes of when the child sees this person, how they are speaking to you about them for instance are they agitated, or extremely excited? Empathy (clairsentients)

Perhaps the most helpful and valuable psychic ability for any child is the power of clairsentience, also known as empathy. Empathy is the capability to sense, feel, and comprehend the physical emotions of others, including animals or even spirits. Not just by body language, but by the channeling of feelings as well. This ability can also extend to much more, such as being able to project your own emotions onto someone else or feeling the physical sensations of another, i.e. the pain felt from a cut.

Children born with this gift can become confused and disoriented if they do not get a certain degree of control on it, especially the one’s growing up in an environment of constant emotional problems; this can lead to stress which can develop some mental and emotional disorders in the child (and not to mention bad habits such as smoking or drug abuse), therefore it is highly important to help the child understand and help learn manage his/her ability.

Helping kids grow as clairsentients can have endless benefits for them. When kids are more aware of other people’s feelings they tend to have more sympathy toward others, allowing them to interact better and positive with other people. When a child becomes in tuned with another’s emotions, they learn to deal with issues in a more positive form. But also, if a child with a strong empathic ability is not taught to block unwanted emotions like anger and other related negative feelings, they tend to stress and act in the same manner the source of emotion is behaving.

For example, if other kids around them are experiencing negative emotions, then an empathic child has a higher risk of acting in the same manner. Grounding themselves can be helpful when trying to evade and deflect negative energies.

Signs of ability:

- Constantly crying when other children cry.
- Very compassionate towards others, animals, and even plants.
- Knows exactly how someone is feeling even if the person does not show it.
- Can perceive specific detail on how and why a person is feeling the way they are.

Practical exercises:

- Close your eyes and try to feel how your child is feeling without checking out his body language, vice-versa by asking him to do the same.
- To block unwanted emotions, have the child close his/her eyes and to imagine a bubble of golden light surrounding their body.

Telepathy

Another useful and astonishing ability is the mental skill of telepathy. This is the ability to perceive the thoughts of a person, or light being and also send their own thoughts to that same person, or light being. Children born with high levels of this ability can become confused with random and sometimes unwanted thoughts. Adults with such children can often feel upset for fear that the child will learn things that they are too young to handle, or that they have to focus on everything they think when their child is around.

This is why it is extremely important to teach children healthy boundaries at an early age. If you teach them that a person’s body consists of mind, body and spirit, and that thought is part of that spiritual body and off limits unless there is danger then you have a good healthy beginning for your psychic child.

Benefits for telepathic children are that they always know what is going on in their peer’s lives and if they feel there is a troubling situation they may be able to help. They do very well in school most times if they quiet their mind the answers will come to them. They can tell when someone is lying to them, or trying to take advantage.

*Most importantly remember these examples are meant to be fun and informative do not over stimulate your child, or question them until they become frustrated.

Clairvoyance (Seers)

This ability is the gift of precognition which gives the seer the ability to have sight into the future. There are many different ways that this gift can be manifested mainly the individual receives mental pictures which can be brought on by talking to someone who is giving off information, or someone who asks direct questions. Sometimes the seer can use other tangible means to acquire the information. They may be taught to read tea leaves or tarot cards or look into a bowl of water or stare at a candle flame. All of these methods are used to enhance the images, and none of them are the sole cause as to why the individual can see. There has to be something which triggers these events. The seer must also be taught that they can control what images they receive and when they receive them.

Of all the gifts this one is the most frustrating to some children who feel that they are not in control of their thoughts much of the time once this activity begins to take a part in their lives. I remember when I was very young and I began to see more clearly it was scary at first because I had no idea where the images were coming from or what if anything I was supposed to do about them.

I am happy to say that I had good teachers who gently began to explain how things worked and how one day I would be grateful for the ability.

Many time these seeing events come on as dreams, thought or just simply intense feelings about the future, and even sometimes the past. Children with these gifts can often feel confused, misunderstood and sometimes out casted if they talk about what they can do.

With all the Earth changes and social issues which can be very over whelming to us as parents these visions can take the child by the emotional hand and give them such a scare. -Advising them to keep a dream journal to get the information out of their heads.
-Tell your child that you love them unconditionally and that anything they have to say will be treated with respect, and that you will not laugh at them.
-Relate to your child even if you have never had a clairvoyant feeling ever tell them that you know what it’s like to have bad feelings, or feel like you were just over whelmed. Building trust within your parent child relationship is extremely important.

Mediums: Those who see angels, and/or spiritual energy both deceased and living.

This ability is one that can easily get out of hand early if you are not aware of your child’s normal behavior. Children are born directly from source and because of this they are seen by those who have died as pure light. This aura around children is like a beacon to those who have peacefully crossed over as well as those entities who wish to do harm. These children are emotionally and physically highly sensitive to these sorts of energy beings and once they begin to display this ability the parental needs to be very much aware and in touch with the child to guide them.

Signs of ability:

-Talking freely about loved ones who have died/describing them in full/having knowledge that only the loved one would know.
-Describing what it is like on the other side/events that had occurred before the child’s birth/talking about places that they have never been before in detail.
-Becoming agitated when someone tells them that they are not seeing this spirit/becoming very buoyant when discussing this unseen spirit.
-Changes in behavior for the better or worse.
-Drawing/writing their visits with the spirit.

Practical exercises:

When a child tells you that they hear, feel; see someone with them in their room, or in certain areas of their environment listen. Ask them to describe the individual to the best of their ability.

-If the child is frightened, agitated, or otherwise out of sorts with the spirit listen to them do not dismiss it as a bad dream. Children are not stupid they know when something is really just a nightmare, or when they feel like someone is really trying to get them. What is a Poltergeist?

THEY ARE DEFIANTLY HERE

A poltergeist is generally described as a spiritual energy that creates unexplained noises, can move objects and can make a living space uninhabitable to those it terrorizes. It is extremely rare, but in some cases this sort of energy has been associated with human possession. The word poltergeist originates in the German poltern meaning “to rumble” or to “make noise” and geist meaning “ghost” or “ spirit.”

There are many theories for why this sort of activity occurs ranging from those who are emotionally unstable, to those who are going through some sort of hormonal change. Some believe that young people have the ability to discharge personal energy in the form of telekinetic activity when they are angered, or traumatized. Within this article I will discuss some of these rationales and offer my own take on the subject. First, let’s define some terms.

Parapsychology is the study of poltergeist phenomena which defines this type of activity as a type of uncontrolled psycho kinesis. The term psycho kinesis is derived from the Greek words psyche meaning "breathe," "life," or "soul," and kinein meaning "to move.”

Although the word poltergeist means noisy spirit generally it is neither a spirit nor a ghost, but an invisible energy which is usually mischievous and not malevolent. Ghosts are generally thought to be spirits of those who have died. Usually ghosts are an imprint on something which has gone on before such as a battle field, or a stigmatized property where a violent act caused death.

A poltergeist is energy that has been created by energy from a chaotic situation generally in pubescent girls who have experienced a traumatic upbringing. This was the conclusion of a seventy year research project conducted at the Rhine Research Center in Raleigh-Durham, NC, USA.

Where there is a bio-host for poltergeist activity the individual is generally unaware that they are causing a disturbance. All of the energy is repressed into the subconscious, and generally does not manifest until the host is exhausted and unable to maintain focus. It must be understood that these individuals are not able to control the activity and in order to restore balance within their body require assistance from parapsychologists and spiritualists in order to restore balance.

If the individual dies on site and they have not been able to restore their mental health the likely hood that there would be residual energy left to permeate the property is highly likely. The types of paranormal activity that can occur are: objects thrown across the room, feelings of being watched, objects that vanish and show up someplace else, electrical items cease to function, water turning on or off by itself, windows or doors that slam open or shut, intense displays of anger with an unknown cause. Becoming aware of when this activity occurs who is in the home and what happens right before, or shortly after is very important in the diagnosis of this type of activity. Although when it is occurring it is very easy to become frightened or even angered it is best to keep your emotions in check so as not to add more fuel to the fire. Remember if it is indeed poltergeist activity the one who it surrounds is not aware of what is happening, and will be terribly confused if you confront them in a malicious manner.

Poltergeist activity is not the same as demonic possession, although it should be treated with a spiritualist (someone who is familiar to the child from their own church, or personal acquaintance of the family who understands how to deal with unbalanced energies.) NEVER TRY TO TAKE ON THE RESPONSIBILITY OF ASSISTING YOUR LOVED ONE IF YOU DO NOT KNOW WHAT YOU ARE DOING. YOU COULD MAKE THE SITUATION WORSE.

Theories

Poltergeist activity is widely thought to be manifested by the living, especially children and teenagers. This is different than possession, which is usually demonic. The living person is projecting their own energies to cause these things to happen. Because children and teenagers are always growing and changing, and their body chemistry is never really normal until full adulthood, this is thought to be the main reason for poltergeist activity occurring. If we are thinking in terms of the Harry Potter universe, think of why underage wizards are not allowed to use their magic outside of school. You can also think of it as out of control telekinesis.

Stopping poltergeist activity

How do you stop a poltergeist? It is very simple. Talk to your kids. Make sure they are not experiencing any trouble at school, or with their friends. Examine your home life. Is there any major changes happening, such as a move, separation, death in the family, that your child could be struggling with? This could also apply if there are no children in the house, but you still suspect you have poltergeist activity.

Common misconceptions

Poltergeists are not demons, or negative entities. They also do not assume any form. They usually aren't that noisy; unless of course the object which gets thrown makes a loud noise.

Spiritual Warfare: Do you have your Armour on?

I have been asked by many clients if I believe in angels, and if they are in fact real. And if they are real how do they play a part in our lives? I have done a lot of research on this topic and in usual fashion I will do my very best to show you what I have learned. It is not my desire to convince you that they do exist, but if you find something here that makes you want to explore the idea in depth then I have done my job.

***Author’s note: I do my best to stay on the middle ground with religion as I know and understand there are many different ways to achieve spiritual wholeness. Much of the following article will be excerpts from the Christian bible as these are where I have most of my knowledge about angels and demons. If you choose to not continue with this article I fully understand, however I would like for you to try and walk that middle path for a few minutes to see where I’m coming from before you make your final opinion.

Most of what we know about angels is explained in the bible there is not much in the area of descriptions suffice to say they are numerous and have a hierarchy that is quite extensive. We are told in Genesis 18; 32:10-13; Joshua 5:13-15; Judges 13:1-5 that Angels can come in a wondrous variety of forms, although the Bible often neglects to give any description at all (Judges 6:11-14; Zechariah 4).

They appear humanoid in most Biblical accounts (Numbers 22) and as such are often indistinguishable from human beings (Gen. 18; 32:10-13; Joshua 5:13-15; Judges 13:1-5) but they also may manifest themselves as pillars of fire and cloud, or as a fire within a bush (Ex. 3).

The Psalms characterize natural phenomenon, like lightning, as God's melachim (Ps. 104:4). Other divine creatures appear to be winged parts of God's throne (Is. 6) or of the divine chariot (Ezek. 1). The appearance of cherubim is well known enough to be artistically rendered on the Ark of the Covenant (Ex. 25). Perhaps the most ambiguous creature is the Malach Adonai, an angel that may or may not be a visible manifestation of God.

The bible also recognizes guardian angels and in Psalm 91:11 it is said “For he will order his angels to protect you where you go…” We can gather from all of these verses that there are indeed angels. Many of whom are mighty warriors who appear often where there is harm to innocents, a need for spiritual intervention such as in a spiritual attack, or when there is a massive earthly disaster. When we pray we invoke the most powerful energy there is and it can manifest in many ways.

There are often signs in which people have seen, felt, smelled a presence that is so far beyond our normal sensations that it will move entire groups, congregations, into a spiritual uprising. This uprising in vibration from prayer can heal the sick, heal the spirit, and most importantly bring those who have felt lost and confused back to the reality that they are loved. As with all things there are two sides to this spiritual energy for as much as there are angels and light beings who will stop at nothing to help and reassure us there are those who are of a darker vibration and are trying just as hard if not harder to keep you lost, confused, and off balance. These darker vibrations are called Demons.

In Ephesians 6:12 we are told that “we are not fighting against flesh-and-blood enemies, but against evil rulers and authorities of the unseen world, against mighty powers in this dark world, and against evil spirits in the heavenly places.”

It would be a wonderful world if we never had to address such matters, but as those of us who deal with the spiritual world on a daily basis understand; there is cause to put on spiritual amour and on these occasions we need to understand what exactly we are fighting against. It is my understanding over the past 23 years that I have to have knowledge of many different religions. Why? Since I seem to be very much geared towards the Christian bible? Because I KNOW that the enemy has many different ways of hiding and manifesting because it has been here since before humans inhabited the Earth.

It is imperative for anyone who is seeking out balance in the spiritual world to have a good knowledge of what people are comfortable with and what their general practices are before you begin to clear their property.

When there is demonic energy in a space there is generally a lot of tension, yelling screaming and general imbalance that is for the most part unexplainable. Children have disputes and parents argue this is not what I am speaking of; what I am referring to is arguments that get loud to the point of screaming, or physically confrontation. These times are those which may be initiated by an imbalance in the property.

Demons can be attracted by constant bickering, pettiness, and an overall feeling of depression where you feel like nothing can help you overcome your situation. They sit in waiting for that opportunity to intervene and give you consistent self doubt speech directed to you. They know your energy well and understand what it takes to make you feel like you have completely fallen into a shadow of doubt.

Often these demons can appear in shadows on walls their figures can sometimes be just a face which looks relatively non-threatening, however to ones who KNOW there energy they are fully seen for what they are. Sometimes these energies can be intriguing to those who are feeling all alone, and they can step into that forbidden zone of communicating with them. Developing a relationship with a shadow of darkness is highly dangerous and it can and will eventually take over your daily thoughts until you become obsessed with the idea of continued communication.

Part of the reason why many fall into this attraction to demons is that they are a curiosity. It is not often that one sees something that for all intensive purposes should really not be there. The mind tries to make sense of what it is seeing, and if the individual does not have the knowledge of how to discern if it is simply an entity that is lost, or one that is seeking out malicious intent there can be a multitude of problems arising from the experience.

Avidly involved in the paranormal field Shay , has been researching the after life since he was a child, events and experiences led him down a road that he can not now turn back from. The last five years Shay has been investigating claims of the supernatural for his own interest and for those whom have called for help and answers. That is how this name came about “Ghosts and Paper Hearts” .

It stems from a dream that Shay had one night and it has haunted him ever since. In this dream there was a women in a field with a single dying tree that was covered with white paper hearts. The women haunted him for two years and then one day was no longer seen.

Shay was joined by his best friend, Guitarist and Vocalist M. Careless (Mason Reta) as they began to write songs together one rainy February day in 2010. Shay and Reta where not new to the music scene having played in Bands together for over the last decade. This time it was different, they began taking a darker look at the world as Shay told stories of some of his haunting experiences.

The idea was formed to take some of these stories and put them to song, to write about what he had seen , heard and the stories behind some of the word’s most haunted places. Thus began Ghosts and Paper Hearts Journey. Soon after it’s formation Shay and Reta released a five song demo that caught the interest of a local Drummer Nik Knytemare (Nick Barnhart). Barnhart too was not new to the music scene having played in Akron, Ohio based band “The Brink”. Barnhart living in Columbus, Ohio at the time became the Drummer and backbone of Ghosts, giving a unique sound that Shay and Reta had never heard before.

Soon after they found Spike (Matt Early) on Bass to complete the Haunted ensemble and soon Paper Hearts began their musical journey to spread the voice for the dead.

Since their formation in 2010 Ghosts and Paper Hearts have released a full length album entitled “Consequences of my Downfall” in April of 2010. Also in Spring of 2012 They released an E.P. “Speak with the dead”an appropriate title to go along with it’s first track Digging Graves, which is a perspective of the dead speaking to us that they are listening and wanting to be heard.

Ghosts and Paper Hearts have opened for acts such as The MISFITS, The Ataris, BobaFlex, Adema, Michale Graves. As well as many other outstanding acts. They play all over the mid-west including many paranormal events.. They are the Co-headliners for Scarefest 2012 (Largest Paranormal Horror convention in the US.) In 2012 they also signed to Haunted Entertainment a talent agency for all things paranormal based.

Ghosts and Paper Hearts are a band about the super natural, they have been termed the “Mid-West Ghost Core” with a sound likened to that of AFI, Rise Against and 30 seconds to Mars. They can be found haunting anywhere look for them at a venue near you.

The Hannah House is located on the south side of Indianapolis. Our story begins in 1858 when it was built by Alexander Hannah and was considered a 20+ room mansion in its day. Hannah was a prominent figure in the Indianapolis community and was also part of the California gold rush. He married Elizabeth Hannah in1872 when he was 51 years old. It is said Elizabeth miscarried the couple's only child.

According to local legend, the Hannah House was utilized as a passage for people on the Underground Railroad. Hannah took strong opposition again slavery and offered those seeking freedom a refuge with food to eat and water to drink. If anyone were to perform work on his behalf, it is said Hannah paid them as he didn't believe in having slaves. One unfortunate night, a group of servants were sleeping in the basement of the home when an oil latern was accidentally tipped over. Its oil soaked the hay covered floor and flames ignited. While some of the courageous men, women, and children burned while they slept, others died of smoke inhalation. When Hannah discovered what happened - and fearing retribution for assisting with the Underground Railroad, he buried the bodies in the basement of the home. In doing so, he not only hid the secret of his participating in the Underground Railroad, but also the identities of those he buried.

Upon Hannah's passing, the home sat vacant for 4 years and was then purchased by the Oehler family. Descendents of the Oehler's remain the sole owners the property today. However, the home is now run by a group of volunteers dedicated toward restoring and preserving this historic landmark. The home is now in the process of obtaining federal 501(c)3 status to qualify as a non-for-profit organization to continue educational and historical signifigance.

To help us keep the house active, we offer the house for events such as weddings, parties, and get-togethers. We provide different events throughout the year to the community such as an Easter Egg Hunt in the spring, Civil War Reenactment in the summer, and host the annual Paranormal Meet and Greet. Our largest fundraiser is the commercial Haunted House during the month of October. We receive the most amount of volunteer support during this event and could not, I survive without the efforts of our amazing volunteers that help pull this off. Of course - we do also offer paranormal overnight investigations for those that are interested.

As for me, I've been in the paranormal field for about 6 years, but have taken more of a "behind the scenes" role as of late. I like to consider myself a "free-lance investigator." I became involved with the Hannah House in 2011after learning volunteers were needed. Since then, I have met some amazing people and enjoy hearing the different stories people share of the house throughout the decades.

I am Dave Harkins, founder and Director of The Ozarks Paranormal Society (T.O.P.S). I have been active in paranormal research for all of my adult life. I have had many different paranormal experiences since childhood and have been actively seeking answers since my early teens. My Grandmother who was a Registered Cherokee Indian was very active in different spiritualist churches in our area, so I was exposed to many occult practices from a very early age. By the age of eight she was teaching me how to read the Tarot and how to do Psychometry. Anything to do with Metaphysics was very fascinating to me which really disturbed my parents to say the least. I soon began ready anything to do with the occult that I could get my hands on including works by Aleister Crowley, Madam Blavatsky, Hans Holtzer and Anton LeVey to mention just a few.

In 1980, some friends and myself started a Metaphysical Occult bookstore in Fresno California, which is still in business today. Through association with the store I encountered many people who were touched by paranormal events in their lives who felt that they had nowhere else to turn. Looking back now there were no paranormal TV programs and the church would have seen them as being crazy it now makes sense to me why they sought us out for help. Through my interest in the occult and the paranormal as well as meeting these people it was only natural for me to investigate many of their claims. So my journey into paranormal investigation began. Since moving to Missouri in 1985 I have investigated many paranormal places and happenings in and around the Ozarks. Several years back I met others in the area that had the same interests in the paranormal as myself. So, in 1997 we started a group called Ozark Mountains Ghost Hunters which was around for many years, but with many of the group moving away I was back to the solo thing for several years. In 2006 after meeting more folks in the area with a strong lure to the paranormal field The Ozarks Paranormal Society (T.O.P.S) was founded.

We have investigated dozens of places over the years, mostly private residences and businesses as well as many more and lesser known historical locations. At the present we are very focused on investigating American Civil War locations here in Missouri and Arkansas and Mississippi.

Most recently we were asked back in August by management of the 1886 Crescent Hotel in Eureka Springs Arkansas to come in and preform an official overnight investigation of the property including the infamous morgue in the basement of the hotel where TAPS caught the apparition of the soldier in front of the locker with the number two on it. We had a very interesting investigation of the property to say the least and have lots of evidence to back up many of our experiences at the location. We are planning another investigation of the hotel to focus on some of the areas that we found to be more active.

Back in August of 2011 we were the first team of paranormal researchers to be allowed into Wilson’s Creek Nation Battlefield near Springfield Missouri for an overnight investigation of the battlefield including full access to the Ray House which was used during the battle as a field hospital by both the Union and the Confederate Armies. We were accompanied by an armed ranger who was nice enough to take us into parts of the park that are off limits to the general public.

In October of 2011 we were once again granted access to Wilson’s Creek National Battlefield for an overnighter, but this time we were accompanied by a production team from the Travel Channel to film for their upcoming show “Legends Of The Ozarks” Which aired January 21^st 2012 and is still being shown regularly on the Travel Channel, most recently as last Friday.

Next month myself and fellow T.O.P.S Team Member, Author Bud Steed and I will be travelling to Mississippi to take part in the Delta Paranormal Project’s fundraiser for MS and St. Jude’s sponsored by SPARS and Truth Seekers Paranormal. Bud will be speaking about his two books and some of the other speakers include Patrick Burns, Marley Harbuck Gibson and Keith Age. We will be participating in investigations of different local locations.

Varhola is an author, publisher, and lecturer who lives in the Hill Country north of San Antonio and who has authored or co-authored eleven books, including the just-released swords-and-sorcery novel Swords of Kos: Necropolis and two entries in the “America’s Haunted Road Trip” line of travel guides, Ghosthunting Maryland and Ghosthunting Virginia.  He has written for numerous publications, including Dragon magazine, The Unspeakable Oath, and the New York Times, and is an eight-year-veteran of the U.S. Army.  He also has an active online presence, notably through Facebook.
